September 27, 2006 - Paul Cellucci and John Godfrey

 Listen to this clip

Tuesday September 26, 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Paul Cellucci, John Godfrey face off on Canada’s bulk water exports to the US.

Ottawa, ON –Water.ca enters the fray on bulk water exports to the US in a live audio interview featuring former US Ambassador, Paul Cellucci, and Liberal MP for Don Valley West, John Godfrey, on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 11:00 am.

Mr.Cellucci, a former Governor of Massachusetts and close Bush ally, has been pushing for a fresh debate on bulk water exports from Canada to quench the growing thirst of the U.S. south and Midwest. Cellucci suggests that water should be included in the same category as other natural resources exported as Canadian commodities on the open market.

Prior to entering politics, Mr. Godfrey, was an economist, a historian and the editor of the Financial Post. As chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Americas, he worked to improve public policy in the areas of the Free Trade Agreement and the Kyoto protocol. Currently Environment critic for the Liberal party, Mr. Godfrey says that Canada shares culture, trade, security and family with its greatest friend, the United States of America.

Tune in as water.ca examines where Canada stands on the use of its waters; our rights, our obligations, the free trade rules that govern the use of our water, and whether Canada’s sovereignty is at stake.

Water.ca is an online information service dedicated to the preservation of Canada’s water. The site also features an interactive map pinpointing all water advisories across the country, and a Red Button Service to alert communities faced with a water crisis.
